PALLETLINE LOGISTICS COLLEAGUES STEP UP THEIR FITNESS FOR CHILDREN’S CHARITY

Colleagues at Palletline Logistics’ nine depots joined forces to raise funds to help the dreams of children with life-threatening illnesses come true.

More than 70 people clocked up a collective 2.8 million steps to swell the coffers of When You Wish Upon A Star, which since its launch in 1990 has granted over 1800 wishes.

The fundraiser formed part of Palletline’s Pledge 23 campaign which sees the nine depots raising funds for good causes and helping some of society’s most vulnerable people.

To clock up their steps some Palletline Logistics employees chose to leave the car at home and walk to work, while others chose to walk around their sites or in their local areas.

Between them the colleagues raised £640 – enough for goodie bags tailored to the children’s individual interests, theatre tickets or games consoles to help children escape from their often gruelling treatment.

Paul Elson, Managing Director, said not only had his teams embraced the challenge to help raise funds for a worthy cause but had also used the opportunity to soak up fresh air and exercise for their own mental well-being.

“The challenge proved so popular, and our colleagues felt good and many have said they would like to take part in similar activities in the future with a similar wellbeing focus.

“The whole exercise has been excellent for morale – while some people chose to build their steps on their own while listening to music or a book or podcast, others completed it with friends. The benefits have been multiple, not just for our staff as individuals but for each of the businesses and Palletline Logistics as a whole.”
